 Regular Board Meeting

May 21, 2007

Members Present:  David Ellis, David Harrison, James Tidwell, Jim Bono, Kim Jones, Mike Hastings, Marc Wetzel and Superintendent Dr. Jerry Stout

New Members Present: Kristi Donaldson and Joe Jaska

Members Absent:  0

Guests Present:  25

President David Harrison called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and asked Marc Wetzel to open the meeting with the invocation.

The Canvass of Election Results was held.  David Ellis made the motion to approve the Election Canvass.  Mike Hastings seconded the motion.  The motion passed (7-0).

The board presented a plaque to Mike Hastings for service on the Tom Bean Board of Trustees.

The new Board Trustees were sworn in at this time by Ms. Pat Williams.

The reorganization of the board was held at this time.  Kim Jones made the motion to elect David Harrison as President.  Marc Wetzel seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).   David Harrison abstained from the vote.  David Harrison made the motion to elect James Tidwell as Vice President.  Jim Bono seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).  James Tidwell abstained from the vote.  Kim Jones made the motion to elect Jim Bono as Secretary.  Joe Jaska seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).  Jim Bono abstained from the vote.

The presentations of plaques by the Board President to the Students of the Month for May were made to:

·         Elementary School Student,  Emily Bailey, who was introduced by Elementary School Teacher, Ms. Christy Clark

·         Middle School Student, Shelby Morrison, who was introduced by Middle School Teacher, Ms. Connie Porter

·         High School Student, Ashley Walker, who was introduced by the High School Teacher, Ms. Cheryl Youree

·         Delaney Allison was presented with a certificate for State Qualifier in the 100m Hurdles

·         Delaney Allison and Bridgette Presson were presented with a certificate for State Qualifiers in Band.  Ryan Emrick, Daniel Curtis, and Gentry Ragsdale were not present but were recognized with a certificate for State Qualifiers in Band

Public Comments:

Jim Bono made the motion to approve the consent items and Kim Jones seconded the motion.  The motion passed (7-0).

Budget Amendments

The TASB Update 80 was presented.  No action was taken 

The board discussed the Construction Management At Risk.  Kim Jones made the motion to approve Mart, Inc. as Construction Manager At Risk.  Jim Bono seconded the motion.  The motion passed (7-0).

The Grayson County Special Education Cooperative Interlocal Agreement was discussed and tabled until the June meeting.

The Superintendent presented his report.

The called board meeting for a Budget Workshop was discussed.  No action was taken.

The board members then went into closed session at 10:04 p.m. pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.074 to discuss Personnel and Superintendent Goals.  The board returned from closed session at 11:25 p.m. Jim Bono made the motion to hire Scott Ritchey, Ronald Kumler and Anthony Thomas with a one year probationary dual contract subject to assignment.  Marc Wetzel seconded the motion.  The motion passed (7-0).  Jim Bono made the motion to hire Kristi Ellis with a one year probationary contract.  James Tidwell seconded the motion.  The motion passed (7-0).

There being no further business, Mr. Harrison adjourned the meeting at 11:26 p.m.
