 Regular Board Meeting

April 21, 2008

Members Present:  David Harrison, Jim Bono, Kim Jones, Joe Jaska, Kristi Donaldson, and Superintendent Dr. Jerry Stout

Members Absent:  James Tidwell and Marc Wetzel

President David Harrison called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and asked Jim Bono to open the meeting with the invocation.

The presentations of plaques by the Board President to the Students of the Month for April were made to:

·         Elementary School Student, Hank Peeples, who was introduced by Elementary School Teacher, Ms. Kim Shields

·         Middle School Student, Makenzie Jones, who was introduced by Middle School Teacher, Ms. Shirley Smith

·         High School Students, Nick and Parker Ellis, who were introduced by the High School Teacher, Ms. Jan Jackson

Public Comments:

·         none

“Less Tears, More Years” was presented by Michael Webster of the Tom Bean Police Department and Brett Auterburn of the Pottsboro Police Department.  Kim Jones made the motion to approve the resolution for “Less Tears, More Years” as presented.  Jim Bono seconded the motion.  The motion passed (5-0).

Sherry Howard presented information on the city’s recycling and trash pickup efforts.  No action was taken.

Kim Jones made the motion to approve the consent items.  Joe Jaska seconded the motion.  The motion passed (5-0).

Mystic Matthews was presented with a certificate for the TASB Media Honor Roll.

The Technology Update was presented by Cheryl Jones.   No action was taken.

Rutherford, Taylor & Company Letter of Understanding was discussed.  Kim Jones made the motion to approve the Rutherford, Taylor & Company Letter of Understanding as presented.  Kristi Donaldson seconded the motion.  The motion passed (5-0).

The first draft of the 2008-2009 Budget was discussed.  No action was taken.

The Superintendent presented his report.  Dress Code, post-district student competition, and preliminary TAKS scores were presented.

The Leadership Profile Report was discussed.  Joe Jaska made the motion to approve the Leadership Profile Report as presented from TASB.  Jim Bono seconded the motion.  The motion passed (5-0).

Roberta Jones was presented as a teacher/coach candidate for personnel.  Kristi Donaldson made the motion to hire Roberta Jones with a one year probationary dual assignment contract.  Kim Jones seconded the motion.  The motion passed (5-0).

There being no further business, Mr. Harrison adjourned the meeting at 9:14 p.m.
