 Regular Board Meeting

April 16, 2007

Members Present:  David Ellis, David Harrison, James Tidwell, Jim Bono, Kim Jones, Mike Hastings and Superintendent Dr. Jerry Stout

Members Absent:  Marc Wetzel

Guests Present:  22

President David Harrison called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and asked Mike Hastings to open the meeting with the invocation.

The presentations of plaques by the Board President to the Students of the Month for April were made to:

·         Elementary School Student,  Tyler Danner, who was introduced by Elementary School Teacher, Ms. Kim Shields

·         Middle School Student, Keely Bierman, who was introduced by Middle School Teacher, Ms. Connie Porter

·         High School Student, Westley Hall , who was introduced by the High School Principal, Mr. Roger Ellis

·         Daniel Curtis was presented with a certificate for National Merit Scholarship Finalist

·         Lisa Wendorf was presented with a certificate for One Act Play State Honor Crew

·         Samantha Yowell was presented with a certificate for One Act Play State Honor Crew

The board also presented a plaque to David Ellis for service on the Tom Bean Board of Trustees.

Public Comments:

·         Paula Warner discussed physical education classes.

The board members then went into closed session at 7:47 p.m. pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.082 for the Level III hearing with Ginger Rodgers.  The board returned from closed session at 9:47 p.m. No action was taken.  The board instructed the Superintendent to meet with the Athletic Director regarding the Athletic Handbook and Policies and present these policies at the May meeting.

Mike Hastings made the motion to approve the consent items and Jim Bono seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).

The Media Honor Roll was presented.  Jim Bono made the motion to nominate Jessica Richardson for the TASB Media Honor Roll.  James Tidwell seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).

The board discussed the selection of a Construction Management Method.  Kim Jones made the motion to approve a Construction Manager At Risk.  David Ellis seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).

The board members then went into closed session at 10:45 p.m. pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.074 to discuss Personnel.  The board returned from closed session at 11:00 p.m. James Tidwell made the motion to hire Lance Lemberg and Michael Upchurch with a probationary dual contract.  Mike Hastings seconded the motion.  The motion passed (6-0).

There being no further business, Mr. Harrison adjourned the meeting at 10:00 p.m.
