Tom Bean ISD Teacher of the Year

             The Tom Bean Middle School teacher, Mrs. Colleen Roegner, received the honor of representing her school in the Regional Teacher of the Year awards gala.  Mr. Roegner attended the ceremonies held at the Atrium of the Patty Granville Arts Center on Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Garland, Texas.
            Mrs. Roegner was one of 102 participants who were honored from the Region 10 school Districts.  Teachers are chosen based on their passion for teaching.  One of Mrs. Roegner’s accomplishment includes a campus wide endeavor in the 8^th grade science scores from 71% to 94% passing rate.  Her goal as an educator is to provide a strong science background that can be utilized in any career choice. 
            As an outstanding teacher, she is passionate and tenacious about learning and imparting knowledge to others.  Her motto is from Lord Alfred Tennyson’s poem, “Ulysses”, “To Strive, To Seek, and not To Yield”.  If a problem presents itself in the classroom, then one must strive to find the best practices, seek knowledge from one’s peers, and not yield to lower expectations to solving the problem. 
            Tom Bean ISD is very proud to have Colleen Roegner as part of their staff.  With expectations from the motivator and trainer of young minds, success is part of the future.
